Short Block Assemble:

Short Blocks include the engine block, crankshaft, connecting rods, and pistons, and may also include a camshaft, timing chain, and covers. However, it’s not complete and requires additional parts like cylinder heads, gaskets, and an oil pump. Short blocks are usually less expensive than long blocks, but they require more labor to install additional parts.

Long Block Assemble:

Includes everything in a short block, plus the cylinder heads, camshaft, valves, and other related parts. Long blocks are more complete.
